About IAAC
The Indigenous Athletics Advancement Council (IAAC) promotes the advancement of Indigenous peoples through sport. Our mission is to educate, promote, empower, and activate Indigenous peoples and communities around movement, physical fitness, and sport. We also aim to disrupt the colonial systems that impact modern Indigenous peoples, with the goal of integrating our people into leadership and decision-making roles in the sport business.
Position Overview
The IAAC is seeking a motivated and dedicated intern to join our team for the 2025–2026 academic year. This internship provides a unique opportunity to support Indigenous athletes and communities through social media management. The intern will play an integral role in preparing for the 2026 Native Student Athlete Summit while gaining valuable nonprofit, communications, and leadership experience.
Key Responsibilities
Manage IAAC’s social media accounts (content creation, posting, engagement, and analytics).
Attend and take detailed notes at IAAC meetings.
Contribute to planning and logistics for the IAAC events, including the 2026 Native Student Athlete Summit.
Support IAAC staff and board members with administrative and program-related tasks as needed.
Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok preferred).
Interest in Indigenous communities, sport, social justice, and nonprofit work.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment.
Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in managing tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
Graphic design or digital media experience (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite).
Familiarity with Indigenous Peoples and communities.
Time Commitment
Approx. 5–8 hours per week—increases with events (flexible scheduling).
Internship runs October 2025 – August 2026.
Most work will be remote with potential in-person opportunities depending on location.
